Atlanta 2003

These are pictures from the sendoff and sendoff service. It was both very emotional (for the parents) as well as exciting (for the youth).

After a long bus ride to the Fairfield Inn in Kansas City we finally got to sleep in comfy beds. We all had to get ready for a the busy day that was ahead of us.

We woke up this morning at 6:30 and we proceeded to get ready and left the hotel at 8 o'clock to view The City of Fountains.

Then at 10:00 AM we headed over to steamboat Arabia for a tour.

After this wonderful tour we headed on over to Worlds of Fun and Oceans of Fun at roughly 11:30 AM (Keep in mind that it was over 100 degrees at this amusement park)

Then almost everybody's favorite ride at Worlds of Fun was THE MAMBA

At 6:00 o'clock PM we left Worlds of Fun to drive to St. Louis Missouri. Lights were supposed to be out at midnight this night.

Now it's Tuesday July 15th and we all woke up again at 6:00 AM for  a free breakfast and to get ready. We loaded the bus at 7:30 AM and took a short drive to the St. Louis Arch. At 8:00 AM We boarded the tram to ride to the top of the Arch.

From 10:00 to 4:30 we drove to Nashville, Tennessee. From 4:30 to 5:30 PM we were to have supper in Nashville at the Hard Rock Cafe. (Boy was this fun!!!)

After supper we boarded the bus yet again to go to Cartersville Georgia. We arrive at roughly 10:00 PM at the Comfort Inn and had until 12:00 PM to relax and swim. It was an outdoor hotel. (Note: The pool closed at 10:00 PM)

We woke early to board the bus at 8:00 AM and drove to Atlanta.

We arrived at our first stop which was the CNN center at 9:00 to 10:30 AM.

We then visited the State Capitol Building at 10:30-11:15 AM.

From 11:30AM - 1:00PM we visited the World of Coke where we can taste flavors of coke from all over the world. If we finished early here we could go to the Underground and shop which is a mall that's designed like it's outdoors and underground.

From 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM we went to the Peachtree Mall to eat.

At 2:00PM we checked into the Hyatt Regency hotel and proceeded to the Georgia Dome to register for the youth gathering while the youth went to the interactive center.

Wednesday the 16th was the first night of the Youth Gatherings the themes are as follows.

Wednesday the 16th: Molded by God
Thursday the 17th: Marked by Christ
Friday the 18th: Moved by the Spirit
Saturday the 19th: Made for Love
Sunday the 20th: Do Life! Ubuntu

Now the Georgia Dome is 1 1/2 miles away from the hotel so we got to walk every morning there and back as well as there and back for the night service.

On Friday, July 18th at 11:30 to 12:30 we visited the Ebenezer Church as well as the Martin Luther King childhood area.

From 1:00 PM to 6:30 PM we visited the Stone Mountain Park. This park is kind of like Mt. Rushmore except it's a tribute to three southern war heroes, Civil War President Jefferson Davis, General Robert E. Lee, and General Thomas J. Jackson

On Saturday July 19th, from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM we went to an Atlanta Braves game. The Braves won against the New York Mets.

Sunday, July 20th at 12:00 PM after the church service we headed back for Fargo we arrived about 9:30 AM the next morning.
